This Chart will give a close approximation of the angle that you want the hoof to change when adding a degree pad.

Find the length of the shoe, then in the middle of the chart find the angle that you want to increase the hoof angle

by reading the thickness of the pad at the heel needed. For example: the veterinarian wants you to raise the hoof angle

by 3 degrees, find the shoe length of your horse, say it is 6 1/2 inches, the pad height is between 5/16 and 3/8 of an inch.
